Squeaky Burger One
Squeaky Burger started out in 1997 as a loose knit group of musicians playing improvised music that felt like movie soundtracks. After a while I decided that is exactly what we ought to be doing, so I started making up movie titles, plots, characters, etc. along with a set list with the titles of the songs that would be in the imaginary movie. As a big fan of Mexican cinema, if anyone asked, I would state that we “perform soundtrack music for Mexican movies that haven’t been made yet. At each live performance I would create the movie poster and a program and invite the audience to follow along in their programs as we made up the music on the spot.
After several years of working with a somewhat regular group of musicians I decided to dispense with the regular band format and perform all the instruments myself, hence the change in name to Squeaky Burger One.
The band has released several albums over the years and continues to play live shows on occasion, but with one change. I’ve expanded to a more international approach to the soundtrack theme…
The band now creates soundtracks for Canadian movies, too.
